week 4 research on outdoor wedding

Many couples dreaming of an out door wedding never go through with it because they are afraid of the unknowns of planning an out door wedding such as weather. One of the bonuses of an outdoor wedding is the natural beauty around you, lessening your need to decorate. Decorations you may want to consider include an arch or trellis to focus the ceremony and frame the bride and groom as they say their vows; strins of lights or lanterns in the trees; luminaries.

week 3 experience map

Here is the experience map about Facebook that I created in class

week 3 discussion

This week's class was pretty fun for us. First, we went over our research on the projects. then we went over two exercises about personas and experience map. The persona exercise our group choose was the "Burning Man", so we came up with three personas, the 20 year old Raver, and the Hippy Artist, and the Black Rock Rangers. The Black Rock Rangers, Christ and James, are law enforcement under disguise, they both have formal medical training. They try to make sure the premises is safe.

week 3 exercise

For this week we only had to do the Interaction design on Lynda.com, which I find quite interesting. Instead of jumping into Dreamweaver or Flash teaching coding and stuff, I actually learn about designing with interaction, and combining web design with different media and material. I also learned to sketch with codes, which means it is always good to experiment with things, even in the end it doesn't work out.

Throughout the exercise, I found 3 web sites quite useful:

I found the part how Brendan created snow flakes with flash movement quite draging, because without a diagram or visual process, it was hard for me to understand.

week 3 project research

After a brief research online I found out that actually there are several places an out door wedding can be held, such as:

-Muir woods
-Hawk hill
-Battery Mendell
-Point Bonita Light house
-Muir Beach Overlook
-Muir Beach
-Battery Rathbone/Mcindoe
-Fort Barry Parade Ground
-Rodeo Beach
-Stinson Beach
-Eagle's Point
-China Beach
-Black Point Battery
-West Fort Miley
-Sutro Heights Park
-Fort Mason Parade Gounds
-Baker Beach
-Ocean Beach
-Crissy Field
-Fort Mason/Great Meadow

There are actually a lot of selections, but there are restrictions to the sites. Many of the sites don't have much parking spaces, and noise or music are prohibited due to preserving a peaceful environment for other visitors. Artificial materials or balloons, doves or throwing rices is not allow in the park. In order to preserve the parks in their natural state, some of the special decorations require further review. Therefore, I think one of my concept could be a green wedding that promoting the idea of having a wedding with less materialistic things and more concern utilize the things around us and make the wedding graceful and fulfilling.

One of my concern was that there wasn't a lot of pictures that I can use from, and the lists of sites are too long, some of them might not be an ideal site for weddings. I wish the contact person would give me some informations about the statistic such as which sites are more popular than others and how many weddings are held each year.

week 2 dicussion

This week's class was kind of relaxing, we went over the briefs with George. He's a really nice person. I got my first pick which is outdoor wedding that I really look forward to do. I email my contact person but he hasn't emailed me back. I am looking forward to heard from him.
